Monday - Halstead, KS to Mayetta, KS - Prairie Band Casino and RV Park (3*)
Traveling today was non-eventful but we did spot this going down the road. Just some of the many large farming equipment we've seen through Kansas. And we also drove over the first eight miles of the Interstate system in the nation that Kansas opened on I-70 just west of Topeka on November 14, 1956.
Tuesday - Mayetta, KS
We relaxed today and did a little gambling in the evening.
Wednesday - Mayetta, KS to Pender, NE - Blue Ox Campground (4* - for Blue Ox guests only)
Again we kept our eyes to the skies!!
Haven't been on this type metal-grated bridge in a long, long time!!
We arrived in Pender to get some repair work done on our Blue Ox tow bar for the car. The pics below were taken in the RV park next to the production plant.
I believe this is an underground squirrel. He kept going in and out of the ground all over the place.
These American Robins were fighting over a very large worm!
Then spotted this cute little bunny.
And this beautiful ski over Nebraska.
Thursday - Pender, NE to Welcome, MN - Korte's Checkers RV Park (4*)
Another uneventful drive but very windy. Finally a cool front approaching the area and the high was only 75. Tonight the low is scheduled to be 50!! Yipee!! One little bit of info -- we drove over the highest point in Iowa at 1,670 feet.
This is one of the many, many cornfields we've seen across Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota. God bless the farmers for providing food for our tables! As well as corn, we saw plenty of wheat and soybeans.
And we've also seen many of these large wind turbines. Our drive on I-90 in Minnesota was covered with them.
In the RV Park I spotted this juvenile Robin.
And this Eurasian Collared Dove
Friday - Welcome, MN to Marion, MN - Rochester/Marion KOA (4*)
Because it's a holiday weekend, we had to get a spot and just stay put for a few days. Spots are hard to come by on holiday weekends! On the way to the RV park, we passed through Austin, Spam Town USA and home to Hormel corporate headquarters. The town of Rochester, which is north of the KOA, is the original home of the Mayo Clinic system founded by Dr. William Worrall Mayo and his sons.
Next stop was to Red Wing, home of Red Wing boots. This was their store and museum.
