Week 5

Week 5 - July 18-24

Monday - Wakarusa, IN

Our RV is at the shop all this week so day trips are in order.  Today we headed to South Bend, IN and home to Notre Dame University.  What a beautiful campus.  Thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour.

The Main Building

The roof top of the Golden Dome

The beautiful buildings reminded me of the Harry Potter movie buildings!
Basilica

Sacred Oils
Stunning architecture

Grotto of our Lady of Lourdes

On the way home, found me a couple of lamps in an antique shop then spotted this barn quilt.

Tuesday - Wakarusa, IN area

Today we played golf in nearby Napanee at a very nice city golf course.
Like this carving outside the Post Office.
Another barn quilt!
Barn quilt gardens

Back in Wakarusa, stopped by the Wakarusa Dime Store to see all kinds of old fashioned candies.

Flowers, flowers everywhere!  These are petunias.  Back home, these would have been dried up months ago!!!

Beautiful moon over Wakarusa.  And I might also mention that there were thousands of lightening bugs out in the fields across from our RV.  What a great memory from the past.  I don't see many back home.

Wednesday - Wakarusa, IN area

Today I had Larry drop me off in Shipshewana, home to many cute shops and flea market.  Afterwards we rode around some of the county roads checking out the area.

An old Amoco Station Sign

I'm in awe of these beautiful flowers.
We're in Amish country
More barn quilts

Thursday - Wakarusa, IN area

Today shopping and sight seeing the country roads near Goshen.  Spotted many more barn quilt gardens, Amish culture and barn quilts.

Don't see this much anymore!!!

Friday - Wakarusa, IN to Anderson, IN - Timberline Valley RV Resort (3*)

Saturday - Anderson, IN area

Anderson, IN is just outside Indianapolis. Somehow when we were here before we didn't get the Indiana State Capitol tour.  So that's what we're doing today!  Only to find out that we missed it by a few minutes.  It was closing just as we arrived.  So outside pictures only.

Looking down from the State Capitol to Monument Circle
Have never seen this before...a pedal bar!!  In other words, you have to work for your alcohol!!!
Soldiers and Sailors Monument

Saint John Evangelist Catholic Church was also in the downtown area.

As was Lucas Oil Stadium, home to the Indianapolis Colts.

Funny story...as we were walking to the stadium from the church we heard this shuffling of feet behind which caused me to be a bit wary.  Then a young man said, "Whew, it sure is hot here.  I can't wait to get back to Texas."  So Larry pipes up and says we're from Texas and asks him where he's from.  And he says, "Texas City!"  Works at Marathon!!  What a small world.  After taking pictures of the stadium we head back to the church parking lot and I walked across the street to get an outside picture of the church and when I walk up to the car, Larry is talking to another couple.  It just so happens he was originally from Houston and his brother lives in League City!!

Sunday - Anderson, IN to Scottsburg, IN - Yogi Bear's Jellystone Resort (3*)

After arriving in Scottsburg and setting up camp, I packed for my trip to Quebec City, Canada to join cousins, Lou, Lin and Rick.

Till next week from Canada...
